Happy (late) new year! I can’t believe January is already more than halfway over – I feel like it was Christmas just yesterday! While New Years resolutions get made fun of quite often, I think the New Year is the perfect time to do some self-reflection, and see what areas of life you would like to improve. Here are some of the resolutions I have set for this year:
1. Go to the gym (at least) three times a week. While that might not seem like a lot, it is certainly better than nothing. I tend to go through phases where I work out five or six times a week for months at a time, but then I burn myself out and take a break from the gym for an extended period of time. I am hoping by setting a realistic goal of three times a week, I will not get overly tired of going to the gym, and I will stick with this habit for the long run.
2. Wake up earlier. I’ve always been more of a morning person, but in the last few years I have let myself sleep in later and later. Recently I have been waking up between 6am – 6:30am, and I have been more productive than ever. By waking up so early in the morning, I’m ready for bed between 10PM-11PM, and it has really been good for my sleeping schedule, and overall getting my body into a good rhythm. Though it has been getting harder and harder to wake up so much earlier than I am used to, I know that if I stick with this, I will continue to be more productive and less rushed.
3. Say yes. It is so easy to write something off because of a long day at work, but I am only in college for about five more months (YIKES), and I definitely want to make the most of it while I still can. Whether this is a quick day/weekend trip to San Francisco or Santa Barbara, or doing something completely out of my comfort zone, I want to do things that I may not have the opportunity to do ever again – or at least not in the nearby foreseeable future.
What are your new years resolutions? Be sure to let me know in the comments!
